Abalone from Wando, Jeonnam Province, is famous for its good taste and nutritious qualities. And at a food fair various products made with it enjoyed tremendous popularity. From the 19th to the 21st of April the 'Seoul Seafood Show 2012' was held at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul, with the participation of 128 companies. And at this event a company called ?eafood Co, Ltd.?exhibited the following products made with abalone from Wando: porridge, soup, canned food, and frozen abalone. Among similar products exhibited by different companies, these products attracted the keenest interest among visitors for their extremely good taste, nutritional value and packaging designs.
Made with abalone collected from a clean sea and by an advanced processing method, the products are finding larger and larger markets in China and Japan as well as in Korea.
For the past 5 years the export amount of abalone has increased by 36.6% on average each year. Last year 52.35 mil dollars' worth of it was sold abroad.
